I tried my adapters for OTG and MHL and none are working. OTG is imho essentaial for a open mobile device. And MHL is standard, too. Would like to show the awesomeness of my Jolla on a big screen.

And yep, I know it´s too early to talk about the 2nd gen of Jolla.

No, it's not too early to talk about 2nd gen of Jolla. NOW it's time to push! I agree that OTG and MHL are both important. Personally I would like to see also Miracast as wireless mirroring standard in next hardware iteration.

No OTG? Oh, that's a pity.

Maybe OTG is not possible with present hardware, but plain USB Host Mode should be possible. Probably it could be enabled using a custom kernel, like for the N900, but official support from Jolla would be great!

Sounds weird, because even a very old Samsung Galaxy S II has MicroUSB to HDTV adapters...

(Picture says note2, but it's also for default GS2) http://i00.i.aliimg.com/wsphoto/v0/677956684/MHL-Micro-USB-to-HDMI-HDTV-Adapter-for-Samsung-Galaxy-Note-2-II-N7100.jpg

Jep, i know. But none of my adapters did work. So it looks like OTG and MHL is missing.

Miracast is a peer-to-peer wireless screencasting standard formed via Wi-Fi Direct so in theory it could be done in Jolla. I suspect that it would be too cpu costly and drm scene is troublesome.

Google Cromecast would work in normal home network and api's and protocols are some what open.

There has been some work done to help out with that as a result of a Jolla hack day. However seems there is still more work needed as it does not work yet.

This is HOST mode stuff as the HW does not do OTG. But a start is here:

https://github.com/nemomobile/usb-moded/commit/44ebf5d79606a2ecb305e58ae71450dfe8853d16 https://github.com/nemomobile/qmsystem/commit/38e57bef3e0b54d585c6143390df00379659e16b https://github.com/nemomobile/nemo-qml-plugin-systemsettings/pull/20 https://github.com/nemomobile/lipstick/pull/149

So feel free to try things out and hack it in.

DISCLAIMER: This is in NO way official support.

Connectivity is crucial in mobile devices so full support for USB including MHL need to be in place for the next version of Jolla's phone.
