as of now we have the flashlight in the toggles in the events view, and while is good sometimes it's not quick nor handy...it would be nice to have the flashlight even on the pulley in the lockscreen, it would be surely more handy in certain situation when you need a torch quickly and the phone is locked :)

There's a quickaction for that; https://openrepos.net/content/markkyboy/quickaction-flashlight

Once installed, head to 'Settings/Events view/Quick actions' and enable 'Flashlight'. Then go to 'Settings/Lock screen' and add flashlight as quickaction.

Problem is, once flashlight is activated from lockscreen pulley menu, the only way to turn it off is by swiping left or right then down and selecting the flashlight icon in the quickaction menu, long winded, but it works.

A more rounded solution from Jolla would indeed be better!

as much as i find this useful, a solution from jolla would be more ideal...for example, another swipe to deactivate it...

I went another route than @Edz, selecting the app "Torch" in Settings --> Lockscreen --> Shortcuts. "Torch" behaves better than "Flashlight".

The Eventsview actions are completely independent of this. Hence I selected nothing WRT "Torch" / "Flashlight" there and use the Patch "Lockscreen pulley at home" instead, which frees additional space in the Eventsview actions for other functionality.

P.S.: "Hammerhead Torch" is an alternative to "Torch", which also behaves better than "Flashlight", thus not needing to swipe to the Eventsview actions or the laucher icons to stop it.

I use alinas patch quick settings in power menu from openrepos which brings you all the actions from eventsview to a swipe from top. Also accessable if device is locked. Adding the action torch toggle from jolla there and I can activate torch from anywhere with just a swipe and press on torch button.

I think the way it was done on the Nokia E7 was excellent. A long hold on the unlock button turned the flashlight on and off.

No need to unlock. It was always there right away when needed. Why not a similar action for Sailfish?

You can do this with power menu 2.
