Since some time now, google play store apps are not being downloaded or updated from the google play store. I found an idea from the following link: https://www.phonearena.com/news/Register-custom-ROM-Google-apps-and-services-Android-certified-support_id104243 I tried doing it on my Intex Aqua Fish unsuccessfully but it might help someone do it successfully. (And please don't ask me not to use android app or use an android phone if I wanted to use android apps. I like sailfish OS and apps very much but some apps like my banks apps come only in android apps and not sailfish native apps and they are not going to release one anytime soon. So, I have to use android apps and updates for those apps are available on google play store. Other apk distributors, I dont trust).

Just use Yalp Store Yalp It's an OPEN SOURCE playstore app which speaks directly with playstore servers and downloads apk from there. Works really nice.

Or keep a working version of Play Store (when it does update after having blocked it like described otherwhere just uninstall the new version)

Is it really blocked though? I tried debugging it with logcat. Stacktraces don't tell me much but maybe it's just crashing?

Yalp can also be installed from F-Droid.

Yalp works great, the best solution so far!
