Hi

I'd like to use less(1) instead of more(1) -- because less is more

tried:

[root@Sailfish nemo]# pkcon install less
Resolving [ ] (0%) Package not found: less

.

[root@Sailfish nemo]# pkcon search less

prints something related:

...
Available zless-1.5-1.1.5.armv7hl (jolla) ...
...

but when trying it:

[root@Sailfish nemo]# pkcon install zless
....
Fatal error: nothing provides /usr/bin/less needed by zless-1.5-1.1.5.armv7hl

SailfishOS 2.1.4.14 (Lapuanjoki)
Linux Sailfish 3.10.84 #1 SMP PREEMPT Wed Jan 24 16:53:18 UTC 2018 aarch64 aarch64 aarch64 GNU/Linux

... or (IMHO better) add Jolla's mer-tools repository, which contains many classic UNIX utilities (among them less) by:

devel-su
ssu ar mer-tools

Edit: After that (as always after adding new repositories manually), issue a
pkcon refresh (takes a while to complete) to make the content of that repository known to your device (sorry @too, I forgot to mention that).

Then use pkcon search name <string> to search for packages
and pkcon install <package-name> to install one.

It WORKED -- after a few iterations !

[nemo@Sailfish ~]$ devel-su
[root@Sailfish nemo]# ssu ar mer-tools
[root@Sailfish nemo]# pkcon refresh
[root@Sailfish nemo]# pkcon install less

I.e.: added that pkgcon refresh

Thanks.

Although zless (jolla) would not have been installable w/o this, the steps were simple enough to consider this situation "tolerable" so I accept the [answered] status set by nthn.

@too: it's worth reporting the issue with zless separately, as it shouldn't be available to install if one of its dependencies requires an additional repository.
