Hello,

I dropped my Jolla 1 and the touch screen is now completely unresponsive.

As it will be is too difficult for me to repair, I want to wipe the flash memory (writing zeros and all that) then sell or recycle it.

How can I do this when the touch screen is broken? When I connect it to a PC it only does charging as I can't touch the button to access the files.

The solution would be to turn off the phone (doable using the hardware power button only, no touch required) then booting into recovery mode (doable with only hardware power + volume buttons, no touch required) and connect to the phone using telnet over USB (automatically available in recovery, touch doesn't even work in recovery)

from there, the menu would offer factory restore (rebuild BTRFS subvolumes from factory snapshots).

you could then try getting a shell and mount the system partition andrun "fstrim" command on the partition to mark the flash pages as free.
