Collaboration or integration of mycroft.ai
Mycroft (https://mycroft.ai/) is an open source talking assistant backed bt a firm that is promising not to sell out users data and to protect the privacy. The speech recognition is still done online, but anonimized. The linux desktop version is working better than I expected, and on a portable device would be even more useful.
I think there is an alignment of interests between Jolla and Mycroft.ai, and it would be cool if sailfish were the first phone to support it.
this will be very interesting when Mozilla myspeech (https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/Web_Speech_API) is implemented with mycroft too.

leszek ( 2018-05-11 12:34:18 +0200 )editSeems the stuff is all open source and in github, unless I missundestood?
What's the need to run any part of it online, then? Should be possible to build a local version of it so that all processing is done offline, and only queries sent to network, preferrably via duckduckgo or some other anonymizer...
juiceme ( 2018-05-11 16:03:51 +0200 )edit@juiceme it is opensource, but it uses either google services or mozilla deepspeech for speech to text, so currently it needs to be online. Deepspeech is open source as well, but too resource intensive to run on a mobile device, at the moment.
mikelima ( 2018-05-11 16:24:39 +0200 )editsomehow my imagination doesnt work on this. i mainly know mycroft as sort of home automation. what usercases do you see on,a mobile phone?
