Firstly, I really tried to look for previous threads. I did not find a match sufficient enough.
What is a good (the best) way to get Google Play into the Sony Xperia X device? No one has really updated the guides as I see it.
How about an Google Play installer/remover App (or script)?
Yes, I have tried to live without Play. You just cant get all apps to work without it.

YALP Store in the F-Droid. FOSS Google Play Store Implementation. You will see all the apps, which you see in Google Play.
For the Google Play Services you need microG. But they need some changes on your Alien Dalvik Files (Deodex and Signatur Spoofing).
I have ready made files for SailfishOS 2.1.4.14, which are needed to install microG.
If you need real Google Services and real Playstore - the best thing is use Android for that. If you can't live without google Services - SailfishOS is wrong OS for you, IMHO.

LOL! I guess I deserved such an answer for being heretic.
The issue seems to be that many recent apps a) require google play (even if found elsewhere) b) check for the android version (like 5.0 or newer)
I didn't try FDroid, have now uploaded it.
Sorry, this isn't about being heretic, but the way Google wants it - They just don't want their services used on open/non-android systems...
But sure, you'll loose some functionality like GCM/FCM (the push services), so you have to decide what's more important for you.

To be honest, the best way to install Google Play is to install Android (!).
Have you tried F-Droid? It should have all necessary software for "work"...
@DiBasse: Once you installed F-Droid, download Yalp Store from there. With the Yalp Store you can download Android apps directly from Google Play Store (about Yalp: https://github.com/yeriomin/YalpStore/blob/master/README.md)
Of course you might find apps that don't work perfectly without the Google Services Framework - but on a device that actually doesn't run Android nor proprietary Google stuff, that's no surprise :) If you need Google Services there are tutorials for that (but I don't recommend it), or you could try the open-source alternative MicroG.
molan ( 2018-05-18 18:37:54 +0300 )edit@molan AFAIK MicroG won't work on Sailfish/Alien Dalvik without signature spoofing enabled, and sorting that out needs a real technical deep dive. I have put signature spoofing in my Wishlist for Android support in 2018 for exactly this reason.
