Someone posted a question that is a duplicate. After commenting on this and that person closing the question while commenting that he did search but couldn't find it, I did the same and it is really not there when searching.

If anyone wants to reproduce it:

  1. type in the search bar "Pulley" and look at the questions popping up below the search bar.

  2. This question doesn't show: https://together.jolla.com/question/1113/pulley-menu-limiting-number-of-options/ ("Pulley menu - limiting number of options").

  3. The search shows 30 questions, so maybe the number of questions showed are limited to 30? Since the question that is not shown is an old one, maybe the results shown are the 30 newest ones?

This should be solved, as many think that people are not searching before asking questions, and obviously it is not always the problem.

EDIT 22.01.: After the question was answered by @eric, it is now clear that the problem reffers only to quick search and it is not a bug (it's showing only 30 questions by design). So people should know that when searching before asking a question, they should press enter or the magnifying glass icon after writing the search words.

you mean the main search bar at the top ? If I search for "pulley", I get 189 questions. If I type "pulley options", the questions you mentioned is suggested. At the top left, there's All / Unanswered /followed. If you are on unanswered, it will search only in the unanswered questions.

Go to All, type in "Pulley" and look at the results shown immediately below the search bar (quick search).

@Neo: I took the liberty to adjust a bit your question as your statement is actually only valid for the quick search, that automatically shows whenever you enter more than 4 characters in the search field.

Whenever you press enter or the magnifying glass icon, you will query the actual amount of entries where "Pulley" word is present as in your example. This returns 189 items.

So based on the information above, the behaviour of the quick search is expected, number of entries are limited by design, which in my opinion, cannot be considered as a bug.

Hope this clarifies.

Of course, if you're referring to mobile browsing experience, it's yet another topic and we'd need another question for that IMHO :)

@eric I agree with you, but how does someone know that "the behaviour of the quick search is expected"? Is it stated anywhere that quick search is showing only 30 questions? All I am saying is that it is not clear and people do post duplicates because of that. I guess you should update the Help part "Please search before asking questions".

This is new to me also (that quick search does not show all the questions), although I was active in indicating for duplicates (I always used the quick search option).

@Neo: This is indeed a good topic that would fall under guidelines Together HowTo section. Let's see if@jjaone @TimTTK@simo amongst others are fine to create an entry. And of course, you're welcome to help imrpoving too! Thanks!

@Neo: Thanks! Let's then build a more comprehensive Together HowTo to clarify all the points related to searching prior creating content :)
