Every now and then when connected to my car audiosystem audio is not routed via bluetooth anymore. Bluetooth controls still work (next song, play/pause, etc.) but the sound comes from the speaker in the phone.

This never occured before.

EDIT: as already stated below: I'm using this setup on a daily basis and I never had this issue since 2015 (Jolla 1, Jolla C, Xperia X).

EDIT2: Some more info:

After rebooting the phone, everything temporary works as expected (at least for the first time connecting via bluetooth). On the next day the music came out of phone speakers again.

Also restarting pulseaudio

$ pulseaudio -k

(...and therefore restarting bluetooth and the mediaplayer) fixes the issue temporary.

My best guess is, there is some mess in xpolicy.

EDIT 3: I tested @paulvt s suggestion and it works for me. I start my car (connections get established, etc...), sound comes out of phone speaker. Then I disconnect/connect from bluetooth menu in settings (like descriped below), the result is no sound at all, but mediaplayer keeps playing. Then I still have to initiate connect from car-audio, and then finally, there's sound from car-audio.

Of course this is no practicable solution, it's just a description of the symptoms.

EDIT 4: persists in 2.2.1 (but the problem is mentioned in the release notes)

Bluetooth: Still problems with car equipment, some audio devices and computers.

EDIT 5: This seems to be solved with 3.0.3.8 (maybe even earlier, didn't try for a long time). Since three days audio is routed via bluetooth again every time the phone connects with my car.

I have had this issue once. For me, audio routing works for my Plantronics handsfree and JBL speaker, but with my Alpine car stereo, audio gets either routed to speaker, or nowhere (silence).

IMHO I believe this behavior is a new symptom of the same bluetooth audio support/routing issue...

The entire bluetooth system in regression and was already a problem before 2.2.0.29.

Thanks for your inputs. I'd like to add, that I'm using Sailfish with my car audio (Renault) since Jolla1 on a daily basis. There were some minor conncetion problems, but it was usable as music player and phone... until now.

Thanks for clarifying that.

I double-checked functionality with my JBL a few times, and yes, sometimes the audio really gets routed through speaker, sometimes through the JBL speaker. How very strange... Let's hope Jolla can iron out these bugs soon and finalize the Bluetooth support, at least before SFOS3.

are they really?, perhaps for you they are but not fixed for me. I still cannot route audio to my laptop from my Jolla1 via bluetooth, so as far as I am concerned, not all bt bugs are solved.
