Hi, I am not 100% sure, but I think it first occurred when turning off the alarm, then the sound was/is nearly off. When I realized it the first times, a reboot or open a mp3 file worked to get the sound back. But now it is permanent. The sound is there, but very, very, very silent. When I use external speakers and make those very loud I can hear something!

And what happens when you press the volume buttons? Is it making a difference? Do you have a cover around your phone which maybe blocks the speaker? Is the sound level normal when making a normal phone call?

I think there needs to be more info for analyzing this problem.

I just tried this on my Jolla, (no need to devel-su) In Terminal, type in; '$ pulseaudio --kill' to restart process, type in; '$ pulseaudio --start' I am to understand this 'resets' the audio process but I don't know for sure. I have read that this is the same as a reset of the audio process.

did not work! without devel-su: - $pulseaudio --check -> no echo - $pulseaudio --kill, --start -> seemed to do something, but still no sound

with devel-su: - $pulseaudio --check, --kill, --start -> could not be used without --system

no I get "failed to create secure directory (/run/user/100000/pulse): no permission" every time

addition: yesterday I suddenly got sound by getting an IM, I was happy and tried to play music, this worked also, but after adjusting the volume via the hardware buttons the sound disappeared right away.

and one minute ago I tried to call someone and now I even got no sound while calling :( after reboot I got sound again, played my ringtone for testing, after 2sec sound disappeared again, but calling is ok

pacmd (no devel-su needed on my Jolla) allows you to have a look at sound driver properties, type; $ pacmd In that next line, run the command; 'list-sinks' Sound/sink driver properties are listed by labels, 'Index: 0, 1, 2,' etc, for each module. 'Index: 1' is main 'sink-primary' on my Jolla.

ok but what can I do with this informations!?

little addition: I got sound now, suddenly it worked again. But it is curious, I can hear Sounds I don´t know :) These are not the "normal" Jolla sounds, when I open the sound settings, I see the default sound for ringtone, chat, etc but the sounds are played are different ones! When I click to play the Jolla sounds they are very silent, like I explained before.

That's a fair comment, "what do I do with this information?" - I thought perhaps showing you the 'pacmd' command may have lead you onto finding your problem. I'm just a newbie, trying to help, sorry my infos are not helpful. Have you considered doing a complete reset of the device and starting over?

Hi. I had same kind of problem today. Any sounds didn't play after I woke up and hit the snooze button of the alarm clock. I tried stuff above and made a factory reset but they didn't work. After a bit of frustration I tapped (well, hit) the lover section of the phone against my hand and suddenly the sounds started to work. Seemed like a weird speaker connection problem.

I have the same problem. I even tried with a bluetooth headset. Volume was very low even then(tried to adjust the volume on the headset). I just tried the tapping and it restored my system sounds. Tried to test bluetooth headset again, it didn't connect any more. So I removed pairing and re-paired the headset. The sound level was restored also for the headset?

Could I have been adjusting the volume to wrong direction(I rarely use this headset)?

I started finally to use my jolla (was waiting for mms) but the sound during a call si really low :( I tried to do a devel-su (i used the password generated in the developer mode section->ssh) then try to kill the pulseaudio process but each time there is a "command not found"!

I tried to write only $pulseaudio, then enter. Then if i write kill there are usage examples....Please how do I write correctly this command to try to restart this funcionnality? I cant hear who's calling me! Thanks
