Well have been trying to update about 4 times now and i get this : Update ready for installation - installing starts (black screen - white bar with sailfishos text) and then I get "There was a problem updating the device - Reboot" - but the phone is frozen, so I have to hardboot the phone- pressing volume up and shutdown button at the same time.. How can this be fixed??

Usually this is caused by having certain packages installed from third party sources, such as OpenRepos (Warehouse, Storeman), or by having manually edited certain system files. Sometimes it also appears to happen on the devices of people who've never installed or edited anything out of the ordinary, and for that the cause is unfortunately not yet known.

Either way, you can work around the issue as follows:

  • enable 'Developer mode' (if isn't enabled yet) and set a password

  • open the (newly installed) Terminal application

  • enter the command devel-su, then enter the password you just set

  • now enter the command ssu re 2.2.0.29

  • then, enter version --dup

  • finally, reboot your device

Worked for me too, but notification about update availability remains. Can't get rid of it.

MrDoctor, notification won't go away until you'll update to latest version.

I thought I just updated system by executing above commands. Now in settings -> updates it says that it is current version (2.2.0.29). When I try to refresh it says waiting for connection endlessly.
