Why is there no XMPP MUC in the OS?

Hey guys,

I can't be the only person that is missing a native MUC client in Sailfish OS. I know it isn't implemented until now, but I think, it wouldn't be such a hard thing to code.

So why MUC isn't implemented in the operating system? The feature was already requested 4(!) years ago, without any reaction. The only Sailfish XMPP MUC app I found is Smoosh, but thats a joke.

This feature really would revalue the whole OS.

It would be totally useless anyway, because as soon as your connection drops, even for a millisecond, you lose all messages sent during that time period (no support for Stream Management or Message Archive Management). There is also no support for encryption, making it even more useless.

I miss it too. For now I use Conversations from Android and hope there will come a good app for Sailfish OS

Hi @mbpilotuser, I am thinking about buying a Sailfish phone.

I use Conversations and sync my contacts/calendar via cardDAV/calDAV.

As you use Conversations, do you also sync your contacts (via cardDAV/calDAV)?

Thank you, Markus
