I am asking because Carddav/Calday connector is a pain im pants atm. . which may be because i am too stupid get it to run.

what is your problem? For me caldav/carddav is running. And there is a app "Nextcloud/ownCloud client" in store. Have you give the search a try??

The app in the store doesn't support Carddav/Caldav, unfortunately.

You can create a Carddav/Caldav account in SailfishOS, but I find it very unreliable for syncing against my nextcloud instance.

I suspect part of the (overall) problem is that the calendering feature in nextcloud is an extension. My experience with any of it is not good, and I find myself having to dig down into sqlite commands to clean up my calendars.

I would support and use a targeted app or account/connector.

I work daily with the nextcloud calendar using the caldav account in settings. No problems after last update (2.1.4 / Lapuanjoki). Maybe your trouble is connected with a earlier release. In the release notes of Lapuanjoki(http://) you will find:
Accounts - CalDav syncing getting stuck fixed CalDav reminders no longer trigger twice after sync

The "Nextcloud/ownCloud client" app is only for files. The app "CargoDock" has also settings for owncloud and webdav.
Of course you need the calendar / contacts app in nextcloud. Visit the nextcloud community for questions with nextcloud.
For older problems with caldav see here
If I can help per mail please use the mail adress inside this question.

@shanti; thx for the link. With the upgrade to Nextcloud 13 all our nextcloud user hat to reregister there devices and services. We create new single use passwords (app passwords). Have you try a reregister with a new created app password?

Nextcloud integration: A paying business partner would like to have the feature in the OS. We may receive this feature in the next 6 months.

This was told by the Jolla team present at the Berlin Meetup of November 2018

That's nice to hear! I'm currently working on a Nextcloud Notes app: https://github.com/scharel/harbour-nextcloudnotes

Maybe some code could be reused (if Notes app is planned at all).

Agree, that's very nice to hear! This would also solve the issue about too few backup destinations https://together.jolla.com/question/192623/support-more-backup-destinations/

What happened to the business partner? Any progress? Change of priorities? I would be really interested in using NC for backups.

In the 3.2 changelog it was preliminary work was noted (you could install extra packages, but it was really early stage), so for 3.3 it is expected to see more progress. Let's see.

It arrived on my XA2 with the 3.3 update I installed to day. Unfortunately I cannot connect to. After setting up the account a swiping to "accept" it seems like 'accounts' tries to log in and fetch calendar data. I then get an error message "Oops, problem with account creation; Could not create account; Server response did not provide user details for specified username".

I had Card/CalDav configured to connect to the same Nextcloud instance previously and it was working fine.

My cloud is NOT installed in the root of the web server but a sub path (https://domain.tld/cloud-path) but I've also tried with a different NextCloud instance that has NextCloud installed in the root of the domain. I tested both NextCloud 17.0.6 and 18.0.4
