I have XperiaX official 2.2.0.29 and it appears that sound settings became somehow corrupted during last upgrade or maybe CSD test after that? Bottom speaker volume is very quiet (at least 20dB bellow top one) when on headphones and about the same level but very heavily distorted when played on phone itself. On very faint volume the distortion is not present.

From this I assume (and hope) that this is not hardware related.

I search for any clues here and elsewhere. I tried reboots, checked many files for left/right differences and even removed pulse config in nemo's home to no avail.

In journal I get a lot of those on every media play:

[root@Sailfish ~]# journalctl | grep erro | tail
Jun 16 23:12:02 Sailfish kernel: afe_callback: cmd = 0x100ef returned error = 0x2
Jun 16 23:12:02 Sailfish kernel: afe_apr_send_pkt: DSP returned error[ADSP_EBADPARAM]

Any idea how to troubleshoot/fix apart factory reset and reflash?

Same problem with me. CSD loud speaker stereo test = left speaker 'OK', right speaker 'very distorted'. Rng tones, external phone audio and system sounds as well as media. Distortion so bad can not understand any spoken words. Happened since last upgrade. Running Xperia X f5121 - SFOS 2.2.0.29.. Headphones and bluetooth speakers OK. )-:

I hope that this seems to be a known issue and that the fix will come in 2.2.1.

if you can work in the command line, why not try reset pulse audio. Remove .config/pulse/* and reboot. perhaps this helps.

@deloptes

Unfortunately not. But thanks for being constructive. Over ssh I tried rm .config/pulse/* and reboot immediately to no avail.

you can try pactl list to see if there is something wrong with the mixer (like left / right level).

It was hardware failure after all. Speaker replaced under warranty. It's way better now. Not impressed on the sound quality tough. IIRC it was better before.

I also noticed that now the right (bottom) volume is much lower then the left one. IIRC they were about the same before.

Can other Xpera X Sailfishers please report about left-right difference in volume level?

Volumes of left and right channel (top and bottom speaker) are about equal. When switching to mono, sound comes virtually from the center of the display.

Thanks ziellos. So I do remember correctly.

Now I have to decide if it's worth a hassle of complain. I was already almost 4 weeks on Android because of it. And there's also a setup to do even after a backup. And they might delay/complicate because it will be obvious that I flashed the phone again as they "upgrade" it to A8 and lock it back. I'm not sure I can do that. Or that I'm willing to :(.
