Shorter battery life on Sony Xperia X since the last update [answered]

Hi everyone, I am very happy with my Xperia X running Saifish OS X. But since the last update (2.2.0.29), the battery life is quite bad. Before the update, I could put my phone in plane mode and without GPS during 8 hours. The battery level was around 75% and after 8hours, it was still around 75% (perhaps 72 or 73% but never under it). Since the update, in the same conditions, when I take my phone after 8 hours, the battery level is around 30%, even 25%. All applications have been closed before shutting all the communications down. But there's perhaps something running in background. Any idea ? Have someone experienced the same thing ?

Thxs for your answers.

Guillaume

I find the opposite: after the update the battery life is much better for me. However, I have an F5122 and I did a reflash rather than a true update, which may have a bearing on this.

For me it is better too. Got no more stuck at 100% CPU usage anymore.

I experience that battery drain is a little worse but a restart fixes the bad drains for me. I am not sure what triggers it but navigation and running android apps is biggest suspects, something is left active. Before update I could easy run for a day and have over 50% left now im more often ends below. I do not use flightmode.

I've got the same problem - seems to be caused by contactsd eating 100% cpu

Type "update battery" or "battery drain" into the search field and you will find quite a bunch of questions including answers. DYOR :) It might be contactsd, it might be a damaged SIM-card or something else.

Or the lazy way: Wait for some days and see if it persists. Drains after updates seem to happen occasionaly but the phone seems to balance back to normal after some hours and/or restarts.

However, if you solve it, feedback would be great here.

That does sound quite odd... Seeing how it's not an app that's stuck eating up processor time or something constantly chattering over the 3/4G modem it has to be some part of the system software that's keeping the CPU active for no reason. My first guess would be that it's something on the Android support side that's stuck and it wouldn't be the first time I've seen it be the culprit in a situation like this. You can turn it off completely or just reboot it from the "Android Support" section in the settings.

However the proper thing to do is probably use a system monitor application like lighthouse, which you can find for free in the sailfish app store, and use it to see what's eating up your battery. If it was the typical "app using the 3/4G modem all the time" problem, then this wouldn't be of that much help, but seeing how it's happening while you're in Airplane Mode it should lead you right to the culprit.

Thanks for all your answers and comments. I've installed Lighthouse, I've rebooted my phone and I've tested again today. Everything's is back to normal. It's almost impressive. I've closed all the apps execpt "message", I've turned off GPS localization and put the phone on flight mode. It was at 85% at 8h15 and when I took my phone back, the battery level was at 84% ! I'll be more patient next time.
