I did a migration to the official Sailfish X dual SIM image and used official backup before and restored the backup after flashing and the MMS messages wasn't transfered. I can't find any note about MMS being excluded from the messages backup, so this was a surprice for me. The note that "Gallery images and videos" are excluded doesn't implicate that MMS also are exluded imo. I would really like a heads up that "messages" doesn't include MMS messages and attachments.

If I remember correctly the mms picture content is saved separately from the message text.

The message text is in the commhistory DB and pictures under .local/share/commhistory/data/ folder.

You could check if the pictures are present there.

Too late now. It's gone with the flash. :p

It doesn't matter that much, as I can request the pictures I'm missing from the senders. But it's an annoyance for me and a pity for Jolla. Regarding the issue, I don't care how the data is stored, as long as it's either included in the backup or clearly state that it's excluded.

@jiit: this (my) issue is related, but not duplicate. I was asking for a note in the backup app (in settings) that MMS are excluded (including the actual messages, not just attachments), not asking for MMS to be added to the backup (there's already a question for that, which you linked).

Actually, I knew about that thread when I did the backup, but since that was old (and made for Sailfish 1) I (naively) thought it was resolved, when I saw no mention of MMS in the backup app (but gallery explicitly mentioned).

If I wanted to add MMS backup feature, I'd tagged it feature request instead of bug :)

Annoying as the fix is trivial: https://together.jolla.com/question/86350/backup-mms-attachments/

And that that thread is 3 years old and it hasn't been implemented yet. Also it states that it's attachments that is not backed up. For me it was also the messages that was lost.

Ah - that's arguably even worse then. As a matter of course I still backup the commhistory manually every time explicitly to preserve my MMS images, so I get to keep my messages too, it seems.
