I hope, I can explain the problem. All error-messages are translated by myself, because I'm german.

I wanted to update some android-apps using Yalp. With ebay-Kleinanzeigen and blablacar there was a message, that some key has changed and the old versions have to be deinstalled before update. After doing that, I wanted to install the newest version, but after downloading Yalp says something like "problem with parsing".

It looks like you're trying to install an app that is not compatible with AlienDalvik (Android 4.4.4). Did you enable pretending that you're running another device in Yalp Store?

no, I didnt enable that. Other Apps have the notification, my android would be too old.

@mettska, please search TJC first, before posting a question.
Mind, that the search suggestions are working well, but the search results do not, and they seem to be ordered from old to new (i.e., the newest is at the bottom of the list). Furthermore the search suggestions need JavaScript to become functional.

Inputting the search term "parsing" at TJC results in these suggestions (among others):

  1. https://together.jolla.com/question/181664/installation-of-android-app-fails-with-parse-error/
  2. https://together.jolla.com/question/126713/android-package-parsing-problem/
  3. https://together.jolla.com/question/136292/ebay-app-parsing-error/
  4. https://together.jolla.com/question/89833/how-to-eliminate-parsing-error-on-sailfish/

... and more, all asking basically the same question, and all being answered.

Just the fact that you state, that it is YALP downloading and trying to install an APK, which is incompatible with the installed Android version, is puzzling.
YALP usually checks for that.

Are you sure, that you have not tricked YALP into doing this, somehow (as @pisarz1958 already suspected)?

Not all questions are answered. "This message should come, when...." is no answer - especially, when someone other says "the app works fine for me" (see no. 3 for example).

So you mention yourself, that Yalp usually knows, if the app is compatible - now explain me, what is the reason my question ist not ok?

In short: Yes, I used the search - I'm not new to tjc. Of course, I read pisarz1958' answer carefully and checked it.

So I can answer myself with a half satisfying answer: Googles Playstore even said, that the apps should be compatible with my phone. So waiting for the next update of both apps solved the issue. They are working now in the most actual version again.

Why? I dont know, but it doesn't seem that important.

Thanks for all your constructive answers/feedback.....

I also had problems with updating certain apps: These were solved by deactivating "Delta Updates" in the Yalp settings.

that makes totally sense! So, this explains, why the next update worked.
