Front camera aspect ratio broken on Signal

Hi all, I'm running the latest version of Sailfish on an Xperia X and have downloaded and installed the signal app apk. Whenever I activate the front facing camera, either for video or for photos, the aspect ratio is all wrong. This doesn't seem to be a problem with the rear facing camera. Front camera also works fine for snapping photos and in other apps like the native camera app. Any idea what the problem is?

No solution, but I use MiracuCam for the Frontcam.

Cool, I'll look that up. I need something that will work in the Signal app though... Does anyone know if the code is open enough in the Signal app to mess around? Or is anyone else having trouble with the front camera in other applications than "native" ones?
