Is it possible to install the native Ubuntu One client on the Jolla phone?

Since the client is open source and written in Python, I think it would be a well-suited candidate for simple synchronization of phone content (eg. photos, notes, files).

The client is open source, but the server is not afaik. Take a look at owncloud. thats the way it should be, your data in your hands.

There is a U1 Qt client for Android under development. Unfortunately the developer doesn't have the resources to port it on Sailfish, though. I would be very happy if someone could do the Sailfish part: https://github.com/JoseExposito/ubuntuone-qt-files/issues/6#issuecomment-34100239

Too bad but it looks like we got a closing answer from Ubuntu: http://voices.canonical.com/ubuntuone/2014/04/02/shutting-down-ubuntu-one-file-services/

Cargo Dock now integrates Dropbox, if you use it. I would still prefer a real encrypted solution, a la Wuala (which I use through Android app), let's see what F-Secure partnership will bring.
