The lock menu item in ambiences does not lock the device

I have my Xperia X configured the way that it only requires the numeric code or fingerprint to unlock the device after a period of time (5 minutes). That works great for me, but sometimes I want to lock the device immediately. I expected the lock item in the ambiences menu to do so, but it appears to just turn the display off like if I used the button on the side of the phone. I think this is a bug because it is confusing (a lock menu item that doesn't lock) and AFAICT there's no easy way to lock the device immediately (when configured to lock automatically after a period of time).

This is indeed an UI bug, since the icon is a padlock I'd assume it locks the device, not just turns of the display.

Yeah, that looks like a potential UX issue. Also I guess it could be configurable what if each action (lock menu, power button) should also lock the device by the code or not.

Since the question also is about locking the device manually I'll post this as an answer:

To lock the device manually, double-press the power button.
