I installed latest version of Sailfish OS (3.0.0.8) for my brand-new Xperia X (dual SIM) but a new/changed Google contact is not synchronised over other Android applications (tested with Whatsapp and Simple Contacts). I already tried the following:

  • To device only sync mode
  • Deactivate and re-activate the account
  • Remove all contacts, and re-activate the account
  • Remove and re-create the account
  • Restart Android Support
  • Restart the phone
  • Reinstalled the android app that does not sync (e.g. Whatsapp)
  • Reset app data by deleting /opt/alien/data/data/com.whatsapp

Any suggestion? Contacts in native app are correctly synced.

While helping my self, tried to delete completely Google account, and restart the phone: still WhatsApp (whatever Android-app actually) has my old contacts!! The DB should be cached somewhere... Would be nice to find where!

Found it: you need to delete the old DB, and the contacts will be synced again! In detail:

  1. Stop Android Support
  2. Delete the Android Contacts DB (see below)
  3. Start Android Support

In order to do the second step, you need to go to Terminal and type in order the following:

devel-su
rm /opt/alien/data/data/com.android.providers.contacts/databases/contacts2.*

If you only have your contacts synced from google, when turning off or deleting the google account, all contacts should disappear. If not, delete them manually from the device and then turn ON google sync again (keep it "to device only" for now). There are some problems with google contacts sync if you search the forum (no good solutions, though).

Thank you for the help! Your workaround actually works for the native app itself, but other Android apps are not updated. By the way, removing all the contacts it's quite difficult because of lacking of "select all" function...

Updated the main question/bug.

you can easily delete all contacts by going to setting->apps->contacts and then in the pulley menu you should find "dele all contacts". but this doesn't solve the main problem.
