Hi there,

I am potientially interested in Sailfish OS for Xperia (Sailfish X version).

I haven't found clear answers that's why I am posting here.

Before taking the decision to purchase and install Sailfish X, I would like to know :

what are the current limitations in terms of features not available ? What can't I do today with it ?
where can I find a user manual or tutorial of Sailfish (I am coming from iOS world) ?

For exemple, from https://shop.jolla.com/payment/purchase/, it is mentionned:

The features that are not officially supported are: Bluetooth, some sensors (e.g. barometer, step counter, NFC, compass), fingerprint, and FM-radio. I thought BT was available. Is there some plan to support most of them in the coming SFOS versions ?
Re-installing the native Android OS may not be possible and is not recommended, as you will not get all of the Android functionality back. Is this still true ? I have found https://together.jolla.com/question/182023/how-to-install-back-android-on-xperia/

Bluetooth has worked since the release of Sailfish X, albeit with a few problems, hence "not officially supported". It's much better now. And compass and fingerprint reader also works now. That page should be updated. And a major OS update to version 3 should be released before the year is over, which will bring additional support.

BT. BT works quite well, but not as it used to in the past. I have problem with most of my audio devices, either headphones/earphones or car audio. It has some glitches, and music listening is not the most pleasant experience. I usually go with cable earphones.
You CAN go back to full Android, follow the guide and most important backup TA partition. Is not the most difficult thing in the world, but is not as easy as flashing an Android ROM (if you have some experience).

Don't agree. Camera performs quite well. Not as good as maybe with stock Android, but definetely not useless.

Then you're probably not using Sailfish OS on Xperia X. Sorry but the camera is still not working as it should. Latest fixes that disabled automatic focus did improve things a little bit but nothing more. The pictures are still often out of focus. Also everything is fine if we have a lot of light, once we try to make photo indoors, things go really bad. Of course there's no such problem with stock firmware. I'm sorry for this but it's a fact and you can't change it.Not to even mention about other camera improvements that Sailfish can't use because of Sony DRM lock.

I am using camera on Xperia X Compact. I have to admit, that I don't expect that much from a smartphone camera anyway though. But: the camera on Xperia X (compact) is not useless. I can make good pictures indoors and outdoors. It may not be as good as it could be (e.g. because of Sony DRM lock) but I can't understand all those complaints. It's always about expectations. It's obvious, that quality can't be as good as with stock android because of DRM issues. Nobody advertises camera on Sailfish X as superior or something special. IMHO it's an average good experience but nothing more. There is plenty room for improvements, but describing it as useless is an exaggeration. That's all that I am saying.

I disagree very strongly about the camera being useless. I find it works well. It does everything I expect of a phone camera.

This collectively edited answer is quite comprehensive.

That page you linked is not completely up-to-date; for instance, the compass has been fixed and works with the latest release.

What can you do with it today?

Pretty well anything most mobile phone owners need. My two biggest complaints are, unreliable calendar syncing and the Bluetooth connection on my car hands-free connection which works ok most the time but can be slow establishing an outgoing call.

It cannot send ALL your data to Google/Apple - if you find that a problem.

Other than that as previously stated BT works well, I have found no problems with it and use it daily. The email and gallery could be better but they do work as well as most inbuilt apps.

Fingerprint reader I do not use, it is disabled. No one but hte police taking me in need these, or passport controls. With the UN data hacks today it just goes to show the less info you have online the safer you are.
