Jolla Store won't start after version --dup (2.2.1.18 X)

History: running 2.2.1.18 for a couple of days now I remembered about the allegedly fixed compass issue and downloaded the "orienteering compass" app from store. The compass had unusual small size (I knew the app) and calibration was not working, so I wondered if the update to 2.2.1.18 has been completed (I know these kind of issues from my Jolla devices) and tried a version --dup. Indeed, some more files were downloaded (some GStreamer related stuff and also the compass app itself), after finishing I rebooted and everything works as usual...

...except the store. The Jolla store ist not showing up, the startup animation disappears after a few seconds. The system-update-page in settings is showing nothing but the "wait" circle animation forever.

The account seems still connected, but for research I deleted it, rebooted and reconnected, without success.

Starting store-client show from cli did actually start the gui, but disconnects me from my account immediately, sends me to the settings page, where I have to login again. But there's no way to refresh the store app, so I'm stuck then.

Questions:

  • is there a way to start the store from cli without logging me out from the account? I want to see the output.
  • any idea what's going wrong?
  • how can I fix it?

All you had to do was to download the scalable version of the compass app from Openrepos... That the store app was not scaled properly had nothing to do with the status of the Sailfish OS update. Also, calibration may take a while.

So yeah, I've got an idea what went wrong. You unnecessarily messed with the command line without being sufficiently proficient. Isn't that usually how it goes?

I see, you love the entertainment of my stupidity? So, one on top for you: the calibration failed because of the magnet in my phones cover. After having the phone uncovered calibration works smoothly.

Well, the terminal window is open all the time. There's no other way to keep my old Jollas alive, and that's how I do it with this friggin' XPeria. In fact, Sailfish is my Linux-distro with the most frequent need to use the command line at all. I'm more often in Sailfish's terminal than sshing my headless ubuntu server...

I reinstalled store-client from cli, and I also installed zypper (haven't yet), so I still have access to all repos. I'll try to fix it later, have no time now.

@Robomike Did you find a solution to this? I have the same issue after running version --dup on my Intex Aquafish (not jolla C-converted) from version 2.1. to 3.0.0.8

Sorry, I didn't. I accepted the situation for 3 months without further issues and resetted the phone a few days ago, updated ota to 3.0.0.8, anything is okay now. Did a version --dup AFTER the update again (to see if the error is reproducable), but it's still fine.

One thing I noticed, don't know if it's related: in root dir ls -al showed me a mysterious entry, a 0-byte file with a short name of undisplayable characters and completely uneraseable. In December a second "file" of this type was there. After the reset both were gone, so I guess there was some kind of malfunction in the ext4 filesystem, but that's just a stupid shot in the dark.

I see. I have sort of fixed the issue by converting my Intex to jolla-c I also have seen some strange files too, but haven't investigated it further either.
