Hello again dear multilingual fellows!

We are getting ready for the next SW release, 3.0.0 (as we might jump over the 2.2.2 straight to it). As anticipated, we have a fair bit of strings as compared to the previous round.
We would kindly ask you to do your part by the end of Monday, 15th October, but if the quick ones amongst you could complete translating by the end of Friday, 12th October, this would greatly reduce our team's effort (we can explain why in the comments if you're curious).
And as always, if you have any concerns, problems, or questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Without further ado, head to https://translate.sailfishos.org and follow link for instructions if you're there for the first time :)

Thank you & regards,
Sim & Jarkko

I'll bite, I am curious, as long as me asking doesn't delay ;)

I am sorry to announce to be stepping down from the position of the coordinator of Czech translation of SailfishOS.

I don't have as much free time as I used to when I was an active translator. Also, being part of the community since the very first pre-order of Jolla 1 (May 20th 2013 feels like yesterday), it bothers me that the system is not open sourced yet (not even Silica Components, despite being promised for years now) and it bothers me that Jolla and SailfishOS now appear to be owned by a government.

I hope others will understand I do not feel good about contributing the little free time I have to a proprietary system, under this ownership.

I miss the folks who started the great continuation of Harmattan who are not at Jolla anymore (like Jaakko Roppola) and I wish luck to those who still are.

Jolla is not owned by a government, the Russian OS development is a separate "program". The same thing is going on in China. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the answer James gave earlier still stands:

sailfish name gone - Russia only? [answered]

Maybe this is the more important part "it bothers me that the system is not open sourced yet". It starts with closed "devel-su" and ends with closed "silica". Look at the end of SailfishOS About and discussions on tjc in the past (one cite.: Which parts of Sailfish are closed source...)

Hello @nodevel, it is sad to see you go, and the situation that you have found yourself in. I can understand the frustration that has been building up through the years of Jolla not being able to meet your expectations. I always see the silver lining and wishing you good luck with the pastures new!

@raketti That was probably true in April and it is talking about the name, not the ownership. But check the ownership structure of Jolla and SailfishOS as of September (I linked in my post) and this graph in particular. Sailfish OS and Sailfish OS RUS may be separate programs, but they have the same owner (and neither is open).

@jolladiho Exactly. I wouldn't mind the ownership as much if the system was open (and possibly vice versa).

@sledges Thank you, but I did not say I am leaving SailfishOS. I have always used the English version of SailfishOS myself, so stepping down from being the translation coordinator does not really affect it (and it wasn't a difficult decision as I wasn't the first coordinator of the Czech language either).

@nodevel, so Jolla Oy owns 100% of Jolla Mobile (does that mean Jolla Ltd.?) and Jolla Asia but the on the other hand Sailfish Holding owns a whopping 83% of Jolla Oy? And the Jolla Asia is owned by some Russian company or entity, which then again is owned by OMP (something) and another Russian entity/company?
