I have been irritated over the bad details and blurryness of the pictures I take with Xperia X. However I transmitted some pics to another phone and saw to my surprise a much better quality. Seemed crazy that the gallery app would present pics worser than they are though. I downloaded an app called Gallery (Flyvr media) from "Store" and checked. And really, the pics looked much more detailed and not that blurry at all, which was really surprising and strange. Would be nice if someone could confirm that finding!

The first pic is a scrrenshot form native gallery: image description

The other is a pic from the other gallery app: image description

There is quite remarcable differences in details. Sharpener in the other gallery program (and in such case also in my Blackberry passport gallery) is a suggested explanation. Hard to know.

I blowed up the original pic on my computer, and I can confirm that viewed in that way the picture is so much more detailed than how its presented in the native Gallery app. My conclusion is that this app have some problem!

Sounds strange. Could you post two screenshots of the same image at the same zoom level, once with the Jolla gallery app and once with an alternative app?

It might be that the other gallery apps have some sort of "sharpness filter" that the stock gallery app in SFOS perhaps has not (activated)?

Indeed, the difference may be in output sharpening, not really in the details. Also the noise is much more pronounced in the second image.

Is that a zoomed image (did you use digital zoom when capturing)? If so, also interpolation artifacts of the camera app may become visible.

From my own experience the images of the Xperia X are really decent (at least in good light) since the broken autofocus had been fixed (originally be patching config file, later by a Sailfish OS update). There are only a few situations causing the focusing to struggle, for instance in poor light.

no digital zoom, just cropping. But blowing up on my desktop is also better than native gallery app. Well, I dont know what to believe really. Overall sharp edges, pictures with godd contrast become well, while pictures of e.g trees etc become inferior.

It is also with viewing screenshots in the gallery.

The screen is clear in the browser, take a screen shot and in gallery it is fuzzy (It's displaying at the same resolution it should look the same)

Did that experimen, and in fact I see no fuzziness here, so I guess everything falls down to some ensharpening process in the alternate Gallery app. Thanks for your solution!
