  1. Pick up a phone
  2. Call my Jolla phone
  3. Let it ring till it goes into voice mail
  4. On Jolla phone, I see missed call notification appear at the top of the screen.
  5. On Jolla phone, I also hear this 3 tone notification play on the loud speaker. it is the sound you typically hear from any phone - even a landline - when you fail to connect with a call. It is a 3 tone sequence with a low, medium, and high tone.

The 3 tone sequence is repeated twice on Jolla phone over the loud speaker.

I have experienced this. It feels quite nasty if you're holding the phone to your ear.

yes, correct! Special information tones is right!

here is an audio example http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gw6cR_XTYg

also, a correction to my post above. the sequence is repeated 3 times (not 2)

in my case, i can reproduce this problem consistently all the time.

it seems like the software side of Sailfish is not muting the speaker or the OS is not signaling the modem to drop the call properly. just a guess. :)

@droll: yes, at least SIT suggests that the main problem is with the telephone network. I used to hear this with N9 at one time but the problem was sth like "all circuits busy" and was fixed after filing a report to the telephone company - so I guess it's beneficial for telephone companies if callers hear these. But of course, they shouldn't break your ear.

I've heard a rumor that telemarketers' equipment can be tricked by answering the call and playing SIT tones in band :) Don't know if it's true, though.

After several months with an Xperia this issue hasn't showed up yet, so it is easy to guess that the android driver side is the part to be blamed (Sony's support is no doubt better).

Can you explain what you mena by the Android driver?

I don't believe other Android devices use Android drivers. They are use for expediency on the Xperia as the device already had then and it saved Jolla having to make their own drivers for the the Xperia hardware items.

This was reported several times and has been ignored. It is very embarrassing when we try to skip a call while in a meeting.

I am not sure if this is happening to only USA network providers. That is probably why no one is looking at it. You get this on T-Mobile USA for sure.
