Hi, I noticed that if you enable SMS delivery reports on a phone set to German language and send a message to someone, it says "Versendet", which means "Sent", when the message is actually delivered. In English it says "Delivered", maybe a better translation to German would be "Zugestellt"

Great news @ejjoman. I reported this bug inside Nokia about 15 years ago, but they had all kind of excuses and closed the report without changing anything. I'm quite sure the misleading string made it from old Nokia phones to Maemo, to MeeGo to Sailfish :) Even if the strings were not directly copied the translators used older phones as a reference. Which of course makes sense, if the strings were correct in the first place...

Postalischer Paketversand und Nachrichten á la SMS sind semantisch unabhängig genug, um bei der aktuellen Übersetzung zu bleiben

Also Sailfish has a setting to turn delivery reports on or off. I don't remember what is the default. I do not know whether there are networks that don't support delivery reports, but I wouldn't be overly surprised if there are. When roaming in some countries delivery reports did systematically not work for me, although messages were delivered just fine.
Message delivery is confirmed, i.e. the message will be resent automatically until a confirmation is received. Delivery reports are best-effort. If a delivery report is sent by the network but for some reason not correctly received by the original sender it is lost forever. So if a message remains in status "sent" this is not a guarantee that it has not been received. It might have been received or not.
"zugestellt" sounds good to me, it's one of my suggestions from 15 years ago:) "ausgeliefert" was my other one IIRC.
There is indeed no report that the message has been read (opened or displayed).

have you corrected the string? you can login to the translation platform with your Jolla account. usually minor changes like this should get approved easily and be delivered with the next update
