Top menu access suggestion - 3.0.0.8 [duplicate]

Hi Sailors! This is my first post, please be gentle. :-) I am a Jolla user since 2016 and have seen the OS mature at a frankly unbelievable pace. Sure there are issues, but for the most part Sailfish is perfectly usable as a daily driver.

I like the new top menu, but the UX seams a bit less than optimal... I keep swiping the menu instead of closing the running app. This made me think there must be a more efficient way of calling up the menu. I remember way back when using my old N9 that while in an app, swiping from the bottom and holding halfway would bring up a kind of quick access menu...

This is my idea for calling up the top menu: While in an app, start swiping from the top and pause for a second (i.e. don't lift your finger), now the top menu appears. Alternatively if you swipe from the top and don't pause (i.e. you lift your finger), the app is closed.

Anyone else think this might work? P.S. I made a "nice" graphic but cannot attach it as I have no karma :-(

I like the idea. And now you have karma ;)

Pausing during the swipe is not very intuitive nor quick. To me Jolla should update swipe from left and leave top swipe for closing (locking) apps (device). Not to mention that top menu is not consistent and it behave differently in the events screen!??

@Dreej Thank You!

@sepuka I see your point, but it's still faster than: "swipe", no that's the menu...close it. "Swipe", no that's the menu... close it. "Swipe", now app is closed.

The pause can be like 500ms.

@Nova I see your point and it would be better than current situation but I have problems with any action with which you have to consider how much, far or long you need to press/swipe. I sometimes do the swipes when I'm not focused 100% (like closing app when phone is already on its way to the pocket or something like that) but you cannot do that when swipe action is limited in some way.
