Hi there,

I just successfully flashed Sailfish X on my XA2. In settings I can't find anything about fingerprints so I started the CSD tool by dialing *#*#310#*#* and started the fingerprint sensor test. Outcome:

Timeout while communicating with fingerprint daemon
Fail

What now? Anyone else seeing this?

Before flashing Sailfish OS I used LineageOS with MicroG without problems (meaning: the fingerprint sensor and everything else worked fine).

If it should work, then there's something wrong/missing in the installation package or something else has gone bonkers, did some digging based on another thread here https://together.jolla.com/question/193449/sailfish-fpd-wont-start-xperia-x-fingerprint/:

[root@Sailfish nemo]# ssu-sysinfo
model: h4113
designation: h4113
manufacturer: Sony
pretty_name: Xperia XA2 - Dual SIM

[root@Sailfish nemo]# find /system/ -name '*finger*so'
/system/lib64/android.hardware.biometrics.fingerprint@2.1.so
/system/lib/android.hardware.biometrics.fingerprint@2.1.so

[root@Sailfish nemo]# /usr/lib/sailfish-fpd/fpslave --log-to=stderr --log-level=debug --list
bash: /usr/lib/sailfish-fpd/fpslave: No such file or directory

@raketti that stuff is only relevant to a) verify that you are indeed running "xperia x", then b) parts that are required for xperia x fp scanner to work are there, and c) what happens when we try to use them

Ok. Just read also your comment below that the XA2 sensor shouldn't work at the moment in any case.. So, we wait. Good release so far, used for a week, no major issues! Thanks and keep up the good work! :)

Kindly show me where to find that. The release notes at https://together.jolla.com/question/191509/release-notes-300-lemmenjoki/ only list NFC, BT and FM not working.

https://together.jolla.com/questions/191509/revisions/ At first release version fingerprint is not working

BirdZhang ( 2018-11-14 04:15:51 +0300 )edit

XA2 uses completely different means to access fp scanner -> new sw components needed -> they do not exist yet -> no fingerprint support for xa2 at the moment.

I recently bought an Xperia XA2 Plus and flashed it with the latest Sailfish OS.

I had noticed in Jolla's documentation that it wasn't necessary to update the phone to Android 9 (Pie) before flashing, but didn't understand this to mean I couldn't flash Sailfish OS if the phone was running Pie. I also didn't appreciate that running Pie meant the phone really needed the Sony vendor binaries for that Android version; I simply followed the Jolla installation instructions slavishly, selecting Sony binary 16 because of Jolla's advice about 5GHz wifi performance.

When I finished flashing the phone, everything worked except the fingerprint reader. This initially puzzled me, because I'm sure Sailfish OS 3.2 claims to support fingerprint unlocking for the XA2 phones. I've been wondering whether the fingerprint failure was due to installing against the wrong Android version. Now I have no idea.

It would be nice to have the fingerprint reader working, and I wonder whether it's worth re-installing Android 8 Oreo and starting again. But everything else is working so well I'm loathe to do this.

@Jusla gave the right links.

Even this thread here is a year older the other linked above seems to me more appropriate so I close this as duplicate. (knowing it is not really a duplicate ;)
