Since Sailfish 3 the music controls on the lock screen are broken for me.

Only the back button is showing, play/pause and next are missing.

Phone: Sony Xperia X

I have only play/pause and next with Spotify. Which player are you using?

@Giacomo Di Giacomo I use Podcatcher which opens the files in the preinstalled "Media" player.

I open music files in media player only. Only now when I checked what happens on my Xperia X I noticed that the display of the prev/next buttons is dynamic, depending on if there's anything to jump to at all. Like: If I'm at the last track of an album, there's no button for 'next'.

I don't know if this is new in SF3 or not, I just never paid attention.

If podcatcher only passes 1 single file for playback to the media player, it would explain why there's no "next" button. ("previous" is there after a few moments because then it jumps to the beginning of the current track.)

This does not explain the missing play/pause, though. Are these buttons functional when you don't use podcatcher but open music directly in the media player?

I suggest to use "harbour" unplayer from either Jolla store or storeman/openrepos.org . It's currently better than Jolla's stock player. This is solution for you so that's why it's answer. :)

And it's also still under development. More unplayer users= could motivate developer to update and add more features to it.

Unplayer somehow displays the buttons but Podcatcher can only open the downloaded files if the player is set to system default.

How to change the system default media player? I could not find a default apps to mime-type in the settings.
