Screenshot option in Top menu settings?

Hello World of Jolla Sailfish OS lovers! ;-)

Instead of a hardware action to generate a screenshot (by pressing sound/volume Up and Down buttons for 2 seconds) it would be an idea to make a screenshot possible with one push in the Top menu settings (where we also find the switches to toggle them on/off).

Maybe a good idea to implement in the (near) future?

Personally, I see no point, currently pressing the volume top and bottom ensures a quick method rather than fumbling about with icons in a menu, a menu that will also need to hide to take a clean screenshot.

And then you will have the top menu in front of your screen in generated picture? Or do you want the top menu omitted? How to make a screenshot from top menu that way? What is the problem with hardware gesture?

You can use one finger to take screenshot anyways so, I see this only relevant when you want save volume buttons or they are broken.

Afterall this feature is bottom of to do list.

I can see a couple benefits:

  • more discoverable than the volume up + down gesture many users will not know about
  • will not change you sound volume unlike the up + down gesture

Also some applications, such as for example modRana & FBReader use volume keys for actions in the application. If you want to take a screenshot of them, you need to use one of the delayed screenshot apps from Jolla Store/OpenRepos. A similar concept could be used there - take a screenshot say after 3 seconds.
