XA2 single sim free Sailfish experience Double Tap needed

I flashed my XA2 single SiM flawlessly with the free software. Here's what i have experienced so far. I have to say that i am not tech savvy, but can't stand iOS or Android. My biggest disappointment: NO DOUBLE TAP! I am guessing this feature has been drop by Jolla for whatever reason and that's a shame. My first experience with it was with Nokia N9 and I just love it. Am i the only one who care? - I flashed using Ubuntu - battery drain for the first 2 days; after the 3rd charge, it seems like the phone holds its charge. While on Android, could be standby for 1 week with bluetooth and WIFI on. - First few times on/off phone, brought me back to the tutorial. Not too hapy about that and unable to say do not show again.... - Proximity sensor not working, hence your face touch the mute button causing your talking party to say "hello, hello! are you there, what is rong with your phone?!" - Connected to my car, Nissan 370z 2017, with bluetooth without too much issue. I have both the car and phone find each other and the secound time the car ask to enter the PIN enter it and that was it. After, connect without problem. - I think i will get use to the pully menu, however it made me unhappy by the fact that you have to make sure to be close to the border to close a app, since when you pull from the center it gets you to the top menu.

I would like Jolla to bring us back DOUBLE TAP, this is something that is so practical.

Finally, Jolla will have my money when the full version is supported, still need stuff that use Android, HERE maps, WeChat, Opera mini as browser. Until then, i'll use my Xperia X with SF3 as my day to day mobile! (And it is my working tool). Keep up the good work!

Double tap to wake up has not yet been enabled by default, but can be enabled manually:

IIRC some people have mentioned various issues after manually enabling it, so be careful.

@MartinK: that's the first thing I tried on my XA2 and it doesn't work. Even if it would work: the flaky proximity sensor would limit its practical use. :/

@MartinK the Double-tap wakeup policy of mcetool on XA2 is already set to "proximity" as default, but double tap doesn't work. I can only use fake double tap (double tap from LPM) on XA2. Someone says that double tap is not support in the kernel of XA2 right now.

Having this annoying double-tap "feature" (personally, I consider it a bug) disabled is one of the best features of SFOS3. It prevented me from reliably locking my phone's screen. If this gets added again, please make it configurable.

Previously, with AquaFish and SFOS2 the screen was so sensitive that several times the phone unlocked itself making calls out of my pocked. This lead to a serious incident last summer when I went paragliding: I accidentally called a friend right after takeoff. He could only hear me breathing as the phone was in my breast pocket. Knowing I was in the mountains he had to assume that I did crash being severely injured/unconscious. So he called the alpine rescue service starting a search & rescue. Luckily, I was able to cancel that just before the helicopter started... but still I scared the hell out of him, plus this can get very expensive and cost other peoples life when a real accident happens while resources are bound elsewhere. Therefore, it's important to me to reliably lock my phone's screen!

While your story was insightful (thank you for sharing) and while I think that most of us agree with you that double-tap should be an optional feature, I still have to say that this is a comment and not an answer. Please consider changing it, thank you.
