The images are currently not available for purchase. Instead of checking every day twice, would it be possible that someone (of jolla?) gives a rough estimation about when they will be available for purchase? So I can start to check again then. Or better: write this directly in the shop "ready for christmas" or "start the new year with new phone OS" instead of the dull "coming soon". Thanks Aurel

image of jolla shop I still see the "coming soon"...

They should be available according to release notes ("soon" was removed yesterday)

A word of caution.

I downloaded and installed the Free limited XA2 OS last month. Yesterday I downloaded the "paid" for version using codes from my Tablet refund. Both zip files appear exactly the same with the same contents and file sizes. It appears to me therefore that all Jolla have done is charge for the trial files that were previously free.

There seems little point in flashing the "new" paid for files as at best they will do nothing and at worst return my XA2 to the post flashed state with all the recently installed software files to reinstall / configure.

Is there anyone who installed the latest paid version of the XA2 who has found any difference to the free trial version?

An official comment from Jolla making clear exactly what features the paid XA2 files currently contain (predictive text, Exchange, Android 8.1 support???) would be welcome please.

Until it is clear what we are getting for our money it is caveat emptor.

The software is the same in both cases. When you purchase a license, you will be allowed to install the non-free apps, though. The only app not working for me at the moment is the "Android support"-app.

Thanks for the information. Just for me to understand things correctly (edited with my own answers after a little research):

  1. I had the free version installed, and bought the full version right now. I don't have to re-flash as it seems to be the exact same download. -> Correct, basically now the apps extending the functionality can be installed from the store.
  2. How do I e.g. get exchange support and predictive text input? -> Both are apps provided by Jolla directly, named "Microsoft Exchange" and "Predictive text input".
  3. How is the purchase linked to the device? -> Guess this is done via the Jolla user-account...
  4. Any target date for Android app support? -> One comment in the store by "cvp" says it's gonna be a couple of weeks after SF 3.0.1 release.

With the paid version you can now use Exchange Active Sync App and Predictive Text Input with Xperia XA2. Android support will follow with SFOS 3.0.1 end of January...

Obviously this is in no way an official release but was fun to play with ;) I bought the license in Jolla Store for my XA2 and seconds later i was able to install Exchange and Text Input plugin on my trial flashed XA2, but the Dalvik/Android Support failed to install as mentioned already in many comments below the Jolla Store entry. Also i tried reflashing with the linked image from shop/downloads and as expected they are the same as before. During initial setup, again Exchange/Predictive Text input installed fine, Dalvik failed. We will have to wait for 3.0.1.x and/or official Jolla announcement as stated in earlier blog posts.

I can confirm it.

Jolla stated we'll get a discount (those who already have a Sailfish X license) But Jolla didn't send me a voucher code yet.

As it was also stated that the Android VM will be provided later (at least it's in beta state already) I suggest to wait and to cure our hangover 😁

So happy new year to everyone

Yes I saw it also yesterday but a few people also mentioned a few functions not working yet, android support not installs ? I think its wrong advertising if its not complete yet with all the extra functions they mentioned in the shop with XA2 versions, and by the way they announced those extra functions after the next update in January , later in the first month of 2019 if we are lucky!

In my account, the purchased XA2 images are now downloadable, see [https://shop.jolla.com/downloads/] (https://shop.jolla.com/downloads/)

The installable/free images are available. You still can't buy SFOS for the XA2.

raketti ( 2018-11-27 12:45:47 +0300 )edit

@raketti: I am not talking about the free images. I am talking about the images I paid for and that are listed in my private download area in the Jolla-shop. Yesterday there was only the two images for the Xperia X because II bought a license month ago but that I didn't install the image yet. Today, there are also the XA2 images I can choose from (and which I yet have to install).

AkiBerlin ( 2018-11-27 13:34:20 +0300 )edit

@AkiBerlin: Lucky you, I cannot buy them in the jolla shop. Or are you sure that the images you see are not the free images and that they include exchange and the android vm?

hullabaluh ( 2018-11-27 13:37:19 +0300 )edit

@hullabaluh: I am not sure that the images for the XA2 now found in my download area of paid images are complete because I yet have to install the image on my new XA2. I only know that yesterday, there were only images for the X in that download area even though I could download a free XA2 image from the shop (but not from my private download area), while today there are also the XA2 images.

I believe that the paid images will be announced soon. And I anticipate them still being incomplete with respect to some features.

AkiBerlin ( 2018-11-27 14:00:48 +0300 )edit

@hullabaluh: You can simply buy a Xperia X image and then you will have the choice to download any image available (once). So in a way, you already can buy a XA2 image.
