Interesting article! But I think it would have been fair to emphasize that Ubuntu Touch is still alive and progressing nicely. Nevertheless, it was very intersting to read it all summed up!

The article gives a really good overview to what happened to Jolla. I now understand a few things better and it looks like the future might be a little better. What ever the cooperations with russian and chinese partners mean for western user.

That's exactly why I wanted to share it here on Together, after I found this article. A lot of people don't know how hard it is to build this up. Knowing companies with way more money left the playing field says something about the strenght and believes of Jolla. It certainly is looking much better ahead. Sure, they have to iron out some issues and bugs, but who hasn't. In comparison to the big two in this market it is nothing short of impressive.

Good article. I'd add that Jolla is at the same intersection Blackberry faced -- and Blackberry made the wrong turn. BB was once the secure system for serious users. Now Android is the antithesis of security, IOS leaves users at the mercy of an ever more authoritarian Apple, and SFOS is the only hope. (Sorry, but Ubuntu Touch ain't soup yet and I doubt it will ever be.) The answer, seems to me, is for Jolla to work toward the needs of the corporate clients while making sure independent developers have all the tools -- webkit, I'm talking about you -- they need to keep an enthusiastic community happy.

It isnt acually the last

UT is still out there and Plasma will roll out as well.

@depscribe: I actually think that UT will outlive SFOS. They are not depending on money from china or russia who will maybe develop their own OS someday.
