Browser: ability to import bookmarks/favorites from HTML file

asked 2014-01-25 23:17:23 +0300

I use Google Chrome daily and have many bookmarks I often use but I don't have courage to type them one by one. So I would love to import them with a HTML file. It would reduce the work needed by manual importing for many people.

Not ideal, but as far as I can see the browser bookmarks live at:

~/.local/share/org.sailfishos/sailfish-browser/bookmarks.json

JSON is a reasonably simple and human-readable format. It should be trivial to write a small script to convert the chrome HTML into sailfish-browser JSON, and then import to that location via USB connection.

Even better, apparently chrome bookmarks are stored in JSON already, according to Stackoverflow.

Maybe it's possible to just copy that file to the location on the Jolla.

Thanks but I can't manage to deal with it. I didn't try a very long time either ;)

Just exported all Chrome bookmarks to an html file, then sent the file to my Jolla phone. Not ideal either, but...Sigh...
