Dear Sailfish community, i have had a Jolla C with Sailfish 3 for over two years now. The device has worked fine so far, i have never had hardware problems.

Today I was offered the update Sipoonkorpi and wanted to install it. The installation file was downloaded, the battery was full and I gave the okay to install. After an hour I looked at my Jolla, the screen was black and the LED at the bottom flashed. It didn't respond to any command. I then - as a precaution - hung it again on the charging cable, the LED then lit up continuously. Waited another 10 minutes and didn't happen. Then I pressed the start button - nothing. Then I pressed the start button longer and it seemed as if the Jolla was starting. It appears the normal start screen with black background and the stroke Jolla and Sailfish. Then nothing happened, except that suddenly the stroke "Rollend" (I come from Germany) appeared very briefly on the screen below. Then nothing. Then I repeated everything and this time after the start screen a Sailfish background flickered briefly, then black and no reaction. The third time the phone came up to the writing "Guten Tag", then black. Something obviously didn't work out during booting, now I'm standing there and don't know what to do. I have to mention that I am only a user, I don't know anything about program codes or anything else. I just think the company and the operating system are great. Help me! Many greetings from Northern Germany

Sounds similar to what happened to my Jolla C yesterday. If I rebooted, it briefly showed the wallpaper, with 'sailfish 3' on the bottom, then went dark and was unresponsive. No wifi or USB connection possible.

But I suspect there have been some problems brewing for some time. The last OTA update failed and I had to complete it with terminal commands. And recently I was required to re-accept the licence, and complete the tutorial! I wrote about it here, and speculated that there might be an underlying hardware problem that affected bootup.

So today I've done a factory reset (using telnet from a laptop as described in the Jolla documentation). I've now updated via OTA to 3.0.1.11 (4 updates) - all of which worked OK. I'm currently wondering whether to risk a restore from the Dropbox backup I took before the failure yesterday or whether to rebuild everything from scratch.

Hello, Today I also wanted to updatemy Jolla C from 3.0.0.8 to 3.0.1.11, but now I'm worried that it could go wrong. Did you solve the problem? I found only this answer in a other question. The solution is before we will start a update we should clear the package cache. But I have no idea how I can make it.

I've managed to restore my Jolla. For this I worked through Jolla documentation and completely rebuilt my phone. Then I had to do all updates again, which worked without a problem. Unfortunately I could not save my data, which is not a big problem. I suspect that I had a problem with the power supply during the update. Thanks for the help
