I know what Musepack audio compression is rarely used, but it quite well supported in GNU\Linux and seems patent free. Maybe it worth implementing?

If there is a gstreamer plugin that supports it, then its easy enough to add. However a quick google isn't showing me anything useful

Otherwise I would recommend Opus as a patent free audio codec of choice, which is well supported already.

EDIT: Looks like the gst-libav plugin covers this one, and a lot of other codecs, so easiest solution here is to install this: https://openrepos.net/content/r0kk3rz/gst-libav-codec-pack

Opus doesn't apperar to be supported on SFOS either.

Ah, that codec pack seem to support Alac as well. But as some kind of newbie: How do I install that?
