Notification sound is triggered when contacts are lost

When I have an unacknowledged sms from a contact and that contact disappears due to a failed sync, the notification sound for sms is played again. If a sync is successful and contacts are populated again the sms signal is played once again. And as long as I leave the sms unread, it will continue to play with every unsuccessful and successful sync.
I think it should only play when a new sms is received.
Similar thing is happening to me for one of the e-mail accounts. All accounts are plain manually configured imap accounts. But it happens only on one.
E-mail arrives, sound is played. So far, so good. But when I am going to delete them, after deletion (sync automatically?) sound is played again. This happens only from tine to time, not always. And only for one account. ???
