update without android [answered]
Is there a way to buy and update Sailfish for the XA2 without any android compatibility? I want the device to remain native-only while still getting OS updates.
We have moved to a new Sailfish OS Forum. Please start new discussions there.

There is a chart what you get when you buy a license at https://shop.jolla.com/. Android support, predictive input and MS Exchange support aren't installed by default and they need to be installed from Store after flashing. So if you don't want Android support, you can just choose not to install it.
Edit. Typo
It's your lucky day. Jolla is selling currently XA2 WITHOUT the COST of Android support layer. I mean the price of 29,90 eur. They will put price up to the 49,90 eur when the Android support is not anymore with Beta status.
It's true that you get Beta version with it if you want to install, so it is included, but it doesn't cost anything at the moment. You can leave it uninstalled if you want pure Sailfish experience.

You could buy the license, as I did, and avoid Android runtime installation.
magullo ( 2019-02-01 15:13:38 +0200 )editPlease, can you explain, if upgrading from free (trial) to beta for XA2 requires re-flashing the device. Then I will lose user data (e.g. contacts), will I?

If you want to reflash anyway just create backup on SD and restore it after the upgrade. Big majority of user data will then be preserved.
