Hi In SFOS we have now inbuilt VPN. I have tested some free OpenVPN services and some of them seem to work nicely. Maybe a bit slow but useful. I just dont know if I can trust those very much.
You SFOF users who have been using VPN a longer period is there any trusty and fast vpn service I can connect with SFOS inbuilt VPN? Or do I need to install ProtonVPN from Openrepos?

Hi. I tried Pritonvpn free with Sfos inbuilt vpn but some network problems. Works fine in Fedora. Connecting to a Nordvpn server seems to be ok. Just need to spend some money to sign in. 107$/ three years /6 connections.

Choosing a VPN isn't Sailfish related. It's impossible to verify the safety and security of third-party VPNs, it's up to who you trust. I urge you to do your own research into the matter instead of asking who others trust. Here are some links to aid you on your quest:

You should also keep in mind that there are no free VPNs- if you're not paying with your money, you're paying with something else.
I don't see why this shouldn't be discussed here since Jolla claims SailfishOS to be "data aware" or whatever you want to call it. It's neither off-topic nor irrelevant. No reason to block discussions which can be beneficial for average users who assumingly also chose this OS because they wanted an alternative to data mass collecting companies like Google or Apple. Discussion reopened.

I used to have AirVPN working on my Jolla1. Never tried it with the X.

DK-Sailor ( 2019-02-02 12:18:14 +0300 )editThanks for reply. Those are sure good choices both. I just want to avoid android apps so I tried to connect SFOS vpn to Protonmail sever with no luck (that seems to be Openvpn too. They had advisory for Ubuntu) Guess I install Proton vpn and try it.
