I am trying to activate the double tap to unlock feature on my freshly setup Sony Xperia XA2 running 3.0.1.14 (Sailfish X BETA).

As described in this post I executed the command mcetool --set-doubletap-wakeup=proximity and restarted my device but the double tap feature is still not working. Setting the LPM screen using mcetool worked but activating double tap does not work.

Do anyone have a clue how to activate it?

On Xperia X this is happening to me with UI rotation. Do you have UI rotation patch? It is known to cause the problem if I recall correctly. It might apply to XA2 too.

@deloptes No I don't have any patches installed yet. :)

It is really bad if it is not working... :(

was anyone able to activate it? It is kind of must for.me before leaving my aging JollaC...

On my XA2 (3.0.3.10) I was not able to activate double tap via mcetool --set-doubletap-wakeup=always :( This is an important feature for me as well and should be fixed. BTW: mcetool --set-lockscreen-animation=disabled is working @spiiroin are there plans to support doubletap wakeup on XA2?

Current "Workaround": The Sony SCSH10 Case does the wakeup for me :)

The XA2 has no double tap support.

Like even down on the hardware level or just the necessary bits are not yet implemented in Sailfish OS software ?

I think it could be implemented but right now it's not available. On Xperia X it could be activated by command line but it could get buggy or drain the battery.

Some users might be willing to trade off battery against the feature. What is the expected battery drain?

I love it on the Xperia X and indeed it someone clashes with UI rotate, but still better than pressing a button. Especially in the use case, when the phone is mounted in the car and I am playing music. When I want to play next song, I just double tap and press next. This also why I requested bigger buttons for the onscreen multimedia and got rejected.

Please, make it optional as in Xperia X, please!

It also says in the link posted by @Stefan:

So, if you want to try it out, the least-likely-to-cause-issues way to do it is:

Make sure display is powered on
While display is on, execute: mcetool --set-doubletap-wakeup=always

I tested both and "always" works better but indeed battery is used up faster. It used to work for 2days and now it is like 1.8 days - no exact measurements done though. But all together it is OK for me.

Not having this is no go for me, so another reason not to upgrade on XA2 :(

Still hope for NATIVE double-tab on XA2. Keep on sailing :-)!
