I'm not sure all my N9 contacts (823) can be imported in my Jolla.

In N9 Phonebook, export all of your contacts to a memory card (or phone memory). N9 exports the contacts as individual vcard (.vcf) files to a directory called Contacts (or Yhteystiedot in Finnish). Then:

1.Connect your N9 phone to a PC with a USB cable. Select the mass memory mode.

2.Using PC file manager, locate the export directory in the memory card or in N9 memory.

3.Copy the directory to PC – let’s assume the directory name MyContacts.

4.Disconnect N9 from PC.

5.Using PC, concatenate the contacts to one vCard file as follows:

    a) On Linux PC using the Terminal application:
         - go to directory MyContacts
         - cat *.vcf > ALL.vcf
    b) On Windows PC (do this in the Windows command terminal)
        - go to directory MyContacts
        - copy *.vcf ALL.vcf

At this point you have all of your contacts packed into one file, ALL.vcf.

  1. Connect Jolla phone to the PC with a USB cable – select “PC connection” in the USB dialog.

  2. Using PC file manager, copy file ALL.vcf to Sailfish > Phone memory.

  3. Once PC has completed copying the file disconnect Jolla phone from PC.

  4. On Jolla phone, go Settings > Applications > People.

  5. Tap on "From file" in section "Import contacts".

  6. Phone imports the transferred file to phonebook People.

  7. Reboot your Jolla phone and launch People to see your contacts there.

Edit: Sorry, my fault, file got corrupted on transfer - import worked perfectly !!

Could someone who has managed to import the contacs from N9 to Jolla tell me are the Contact data labels retained and correct? If you have a contact with "Home phone" and "Work phone" numbers are those labels shown correcly in People app? This relates to the bug of People app not showing Google imported contacts labels correctly;

If tracker finds more than 1 VCF file "Import contacts" will show more than 1 entry "From file" and you don't know which entry is which file (filename is not shown and no file chooser evailable).

@jjaone: Yes, phone numbers and email addresses appear to keep their labels correctly when importing contacts N9 > PC > Jolla.

@jovirkku Ok, thanks for the info. It seems that it's the sync then that messes the labels of contact data.. probably the incomplete CalDav-support..

Here is solution to the problem that I came across and I hope it will help someone else.

I wanted to import contacts from my nokia N900. But there was a problem when merging all vcf contacts into one after transferring them to my PC. When I ran this command in windows cmd: copy *.vcf ALL.vcf, it created ALL.vcf file, but upon opening this file in jolla it only imported the first contact. I opened ALL.vcf file in WordPad and find out that every vcard should start with BEGIN:VCARD and end with END:VCARD. But in my file (ALL.vcf) all the cards ended with END:VCARDBEGIN:VCARD. So I used find and replace and changed END:VCARDBEGIN:VCARD in my file to: END:VCARD and in new line BEGIN:VCARD after that jolla recognized all of the contact and imported them just fine.

Thanks, that fixed it for me! The "symptoms", namely only one contact being imported should really be noted more clearly in the wiki article.

First, try N9 Sync (it is performed through bluetooth connection), it should be initiated from N9. Sync history is also available in Sailfish Settings (Sync)

This also worked for me when importing contacts from N900.

I thought it worked but finding some contacts not being transfered but the sync status is "all fine". So Nope N9 sync does not work as expected. (Second sms received ever had a number shown instead of the contact, made me suspicious and I recognized some more contacts not being transfered - same issue with N900 to N9 - some contact-cards held info the other device was not able to handle and did not import the contact)

Is N9 Sync an application? I don't see any "Synchronize" (nor similar) option in the Contacts application on N9.

The syncing, as described in http://www.jollatides.com/2013/11/29/how-to-sync-jolla-with-nokia-n9/ worked for me (between Jolla and N9). Maybe create an answer/comment in the ZenDesk?

There should be a howto-entry in the knowledge.base: "How Do I Move Contacts from My N9/N900 to Jolla?", right?
