Assumed you own some alias-addresses at your common email provider (mailbox.org, posteo.de, etc.):

How can you add those alias-addresses into the email-app?
How to send and receive mails in Sailfish email-app with those addresses?

In Thunderbird you can simply add them as further identities of an account via "Account Settings" -> "Manage Identities" -> "Add". Also Ubuntu Touch supports integration of alias, but what about Sailfish?

Unfortunatly this feature is asked for many years ;-) see question/165583, also including work-around suggestions.

Above answer from pawel is the way to go!

Receiving is normally pushed to one inbox on the server, so setting up ONE account with correct incoming mail server details is sufficient. For sending just choose the one you need.

Now there is the disadvantage of non-possibilty to feed the other aliases accounts with dumb mail server data. Or you give correct details and receive all mails twice/thrice/...

you know that once running socat and hereby providing a fake POP server was sufficient to trick the mail client to allow setting up and not ever sync the inbox.

I hacked around with old socat binary and its dependencies as well as with call sequence of POP commands of SFOS mail client. And found a way to trick the mail client the same way as on my N900 :)

receiving is not an issue, that works automatically.

using alias as sender mail adress is not possible i fear

you could only try to have multiple mail boxes with all the diasadvantages

Is there already something in Jolla's pipe? As I said: Ubuntu Touch's Dekko2 and also Androids K9-Mail provide such an alias function (which is extremely useful)...

I did setup for each alias an IMAP account and disabled it for syncing. If I compose a message, I choose the account in the from field. I'ts complicaed, but a workarround. I guess there is nothing in the pipe, I'm waiting for about 5 years about it...

Maybe I am dumb but I do not understand how to "disable" an account "for syncing". I can only disable the whole account in 'settings/accounts/account status' but then there is also no chance of sending. When set the sync to "manual" under 'settings/accounts/sync emails' then the account will not update the inbox on its own. BUT everytime you open the inbox (accidentally) it will sync and fetch all e-mails and waste bandwith/time/storage. Same happens if you push "update all" in pulley menj or on app cover...

@peterleinchen You right, disable are not able. I use manual sync for that accounts and automatic for the 'true' used. The alias mailboxes I named them 'alias@...' and I do not open them at all and I use not the sync all button. Yes just a ugly workaround, but the only way I can use this app, because I have plenty of email addresses.
