FBReader (an e-book reader, http://fbreader.org/) for Android works on Jolla well. Does it make a sense to create native version? Why? Do you know real arguments pro (or contra)? Not "native is always better", but serious reasons like "it will be possible to ...".

Ahoy, I am the fellow sailor who sponsored and performed the port of FBReader to SailfishOS which is in OpenRepos since beginning of March. I labeled it alpha release, but it is really stable, so I will change the status to beta (or just released) after adding a contributed icon. To get it into into the Jolla store I need to do some internal restructuring wich is currently coordinated with the FBReader developers. After that in the roadmap is alignment with the latest feature set of FBReader builds for other architectures.
Hi, I currently use the openrepos Fbreader, an it works very vell. I also sent donations and my thoughts and feedback the given email address but no reply since then. But I am glad sailfish version happens, because it is the best reader so far. Thanks.

According to the git repo, they seem to be working on a native port. I donated to them for this cause. Happy to see them support us!

And also native ones are more efficient, better integrated and it could use existing infrastructure like the tracker index of books. With the android you currently also have to take care of permissions as it doesn't run as nemo
schmittlauch ( 2014-01-27 20:46:23 +0300 )editI am using your android app on Jolla. I downloaded an ePub file but it wouldn't open. I can add ePub files to your app If I download them from the android Dropbox app so that is two android apps required.
Android apps cannot access the file system I don't think.

Some Android apps cannot find files, because they are in nonstandard (for Android) places. just browse to /home/nemo/Download
