I can't send and receive SMS after installing 3.0.2.8 Oulanka. I don't even find the app in Jolla Shop / in my installed apps.

Tried the eSMS, doesn't work either. I have also installed Textra from Store, also not funktioning. But I don't understand why the original Jolla SMS app is not any more available in Jolla Shop and doesn't show in my own apps in Jolla Shop

25.3.2019 I was today at my teleoperator and explained the situation. They tried everything and gave me a new SIM-card, which didn't help. So it is definitely a bug, why my mobile phone doesn't work after installing Oulanka 3.0.2.8

26.3.2019 I am not going to reset to Factory settings, because it takes too much time to uppgrade everything afterwards. Now I can't even uppgrade my Telegram and Whatsapp. It says, that something didn't function. My MeeCast doesn't show the locations any more.

27.3.2019 After I tried everything, I did reset to factory settings. But that didn't work either. When the mobile phone opened again, it had still Oulanka 3.0.2.8. installed. I still have problems, have to reboot again and again. It works a while and when it doesn't, I have to reboot again. I guess, that I just have to wait for the next uppgrade.

Does sending SMS from within cSMS work?

It's designed to send/receive encrypted SMS but can handle unencrypted SMS as well.

@Celso The update is only early access yet. You have to activate it in your Jolla account (website) if you want to receive it until it goes public.

I forgot to mention: you can find cSMS in the Jolla Store

It might be worth running

devel-su
pkcon refresh
version --dup
sync
reboot

in case that some packages were not installed in the upgrade.

Thanks, that's great news. So by "We hope tht the recent SMS problem got eliminated (at least alleviated) with this OS update" in the release notes they apparently mean this bug here.

I've received SMS from my bank when I've done an online purchase, so the apparently fixed this bug. I would like to know the experience of others users :)

I can also confirm that 3.2.0.12 fixed this issue for me.

On 3.1 I had to insert +(country code) everywhere to make SMS sending work.

may this thing be related with that I cannot send mms while roaming? it says that my mobile data settings prevent this. i tried reboot more times, even changed some mms sending settings, but did not help. (maybe i should run a pkcon refresh as someone wrote above, but earlier this killed my phone and led to blank homescreen so i had to reinstall Oulanka manually, so i do not really dare to do it again...)

Allow roaming in mobile network settings.

As opposed to @hjheins it works on my devices now with 3.1.0.11 - lets see if stays. However I directly upgraded from 3.0.1 - the last version known to work with SMS to 3.1 - maybe this makes a difference?

But I still observed a (related) bug. On the first try after reboot the "sending" messaged stayed there for ~ seconds. In the middle of that time, the message was already received by the other device. And at the end, the message was received again.

For me (Jolla 1, Sailfish 3.1.0.11), sms's can be received when sent from a phone, but not when from the internet (registration codes from internet services like Google, security inquiries from my credit card provider etc.).

Flight mode, setting phone to 3G or 2G, rebooting or removing the battery for 10 minutes doesn't help.

In my case, I doesn't received SMS for a few time : it was probably a.conflict with Android app "Signal". After desinstall Signal, my XperiaX was receiving SMS again...

Sailfish Xperia X: 3.1.0.11

Issue appeared two days ago. It was saying "Problem sending SMS"

In Settings -> Mobile Network -> Network Mode the setting was Prefer 4G. After setting to Prefer 3G the issue was solved.

Are you going to update to SFOS 3.2 and try again? Would be nice to know if the issue has been fixed in the new version.

Pohli ( 2019-11-02 18:45:52 +0300 )edit

I am not in the early bird, but I can try, why not. I guess the problem comes sporadically, but after upgrade I'll set it to Prefer 4G and wait to see - will report here
