Frequencies available on Xperia XA2 with Sailfish X

Hi Sailors,

The availability of the frequencies of Sailfish X on an Xperia XA2 does not seem very clear to me.

I understand that Sailfish X is not marketed in the USA, but is it possible to travel to the USA/Canada with an Xperia XA2 with Sailfish X installed ?

And sorry if i don't see the answer somewhere.

That's actually a question I wanted to ask some days ago, too. Funny. But my background was more in matters of security checking: we know airport security is allowed to check your cellphone and it has to be charged (at least what I konw and have heard, or otherwise they think it's a bomb). If your Sailfish phone is checked, it should be detected as a phone with switched OS. But according to US federal law, it is forbidden to change OS on devices (and thats what some EU cracks want to have to, dumb **). So it is questionable to me if you are allowed to use a Sailfish OS phone, at least Xperia X and XA2s with changed OS (old Jollas and Intex Aquafish should be fine then)?

Thanks for this comment. From my own point of view, my Jolla 1 has no problems to cross the "Atlantic Ocean". Indeed, the J1 has an ICASA certification. The Jolla C has no certification. And the Intex Aquafish of my wife was converted as Jolla C (so with any certification). For the moment, i think that the best solution for me is to take my very old Nokia e72-1 :-(

I don't see any indications that Sailfish X would change the frequency bands of any of those XA2 variants in any way. You still have to check if your specific model will work with any of the operators you intend to be using.

H3413 (Xperia XA2 Plus) LTE Bands: 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 20, 38
H4413 (Xperia XA2 Plus Dual) LTE Bands: 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 20, 38
H4493 (Xperia XA2 Plus Dual) LTE Bands: 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 28, 38, 39, 40, 41M

H3213 (Xperia XA2 Ultra) LTE Bands: 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 20, 38
H3223 (Xperia XA2 Ultra) LTE Bands: 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 17, 25, 28, 29, 66
H4213 (Xperia XA2 Ultra Dual) LTE Bands: 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 20, 38
H4233 (Xperia XA2 Ultra Dual) LTE Bands: 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 28, 38, 39, 40, 41M

H3113 (Xperia XA2) LTE Bands: 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 20, 38

Thanks for this answer, but i'm not sure. In fact you have the chip and the firmware that manage the chip. I remember a topic about the Jolla 1, but i do not find it at this time, about a file that allows to reflash the chip with US frequencies. Then we have the problem of US reglementation as Robberey said above in his comments.

An official answer from Jolla about Xperia XA2 will be cool ;-)

While I also think an official answer from Jolla would be good I would not hold my breath.

But I would also like to point our that frequency bands (and in turn also XA2 models offered) also vary between EU member states, means Jolla secretly fiddling around with the modem firmware would not be something I would like to see.
