I Love Sailfish OS.

This maybe considered as duplicate for https://together.jolla.com/question/75552/messaging-application-does-not-support-group-sms-or-group-mms/ (asked Jan 7 2015) and a few other threads that didn't get any official response from Jolla.

Jolla, any plans for implementing group MMS/SMS feature for Sailfish OS messaging app?

I bought an XA2, paid fro Sailfish X, got it up and running and being using for couple days with my second sim card. Everything is working very smooth. I LOVE IT!!! I would love to put my primary sim in this phone.

Unfortunately, I can't because of 1 and only 1 reason. No group MMS/SMS support.

I was hoping an Android App, like Signal can take over the SMS/MMS. It can on Android, but not on Sailfish.

The main reason we use MMS/SMS for group messaging is that the other solutions are so fragmented. Some use Whatsapp, some use iMessage, some use Signal. Can't really tell if everyone you want to send message to is using the same tool. SMS/MMS is the least common denominator that everyone can receive (except Sailfish users)

If you don't have any plan to add this feature to Sailfish OS messaging app, is it possible to allow Android App, like Signal to take over messaging? Any plans for that?

Should I drop the love for Sailfish and move on? If there is no plans, that is my only choice. I hate to do that, but I can't ask everyone to stop sending me group MMS, since iPhone and Android supports it very well.

Thanks in advance for a response. Positive or Negative!

WOW!!! UPDATE!!!

In fact, it is not a duplicate question. I am asking a question if Jolla is planning to support. I am not reporting an issue like the other request.

If jiit is a Jolla employee, I guess I got the answer I was looking for. Thank you jiit for your great service to the Jolla community. I guess this is how Jolla is going to take care of the requests.

What you (jiit) don't understand or is ignoring is the fact that the other request was from 2015 and the request was also not answered by Jolla.

It is very nice of you to just close saying it is duplicate, without any explanation or a real response.

You have enough karma to edit the original post, so why knowingly post the same thing again?

have you tried delta chat ?

is only android and ios app at the moment, but eliminates fragmentation

it works already quite well for me and it is still beta

Signal works on Sailfish as a third party application:

https://github.com/aebruno/whisperfish/releases/download/v0.5.1/harbour-whisperfish-0.5.1.master.20180401153318.83c50ea-1.armv7hl.rpm

Unfortunately it's no longer being developed, but it still works (with some bugs).

The original poster specifically needs to be able to reply to regular group text messages. Suggesting other apps doesn't help unless they can send "real" group SMS, which I assume they can't.

So sailfish really doesn't support this?

Signal works on Sailfish OS for Signal messages. Tried both Android version and whisperfish. I am fine with either one for Signal messages.
I am talking about regular SMS or MMS for a multiple people. Android Signal app has the capability to send SMS/MMS messages. I do that on my Android phone now. Only Messaging app from Sailfish OS can receive/send SMS/MMS messages on Sailfish OS. I tried with Android Signal app on SailfishOS but does not work.

I will be happy with an Android app handling SMS/MMS if that is the only choice. That means SailfishOS has to allow it to intercept SMS/MMS traffic (or something like that, I a not sure how that works)
