Nokia introduced idea of standby screens in their Symbian/Maemo-Meego lineup. I have enjoyed LPM functionality in my N9.

I am slightly upset that current Jolla HW doesn't include LPM screen. How about in the future hardware revisions?

Could also be an other half with a small screen with this feature ... :)

Yes, it would be cool otherhalf ;-). Anyway, standby screen is must for me - I have used to glance my N9 (billboard app + lpm screen)

This question is similar to https://together.jolla.com/question/937/glance-screen/#961. I closed this one, but decided to re-open it because this question is more or less hardware request while other was (more) software oriented.

WOW! Look at this C00l OtherHalf -project: https://together.jolla.com/question/7245/another-other-half-idea-oled-display/

No other half!! This should definately be in basic system lineup (maby with ability to switch it on/off). It was an awsome feature of the N9. How many other halfs are you guys prepared to be carrying around, would you change TOH just to have a glance at the stanby screen? No, that would defeat the purpose and it is a ridiculous suggestion that we would pay 29€ for another other half just to get a stanby screen. But stanby screen is definately desirable!! Jolla, would you pleeeeease?! :)

Anything is possible. Just want to be more specific and point out that LPM works on the Nokia N9 because it uses an AMOLED display screen. LED technology allows individual 'pixels' to be switched off selectively. Jolla has an LCD screen which only allows all pixels on or all pixels off.

Yes, anything is possible... It is also possible to activate a "standby screen" on a LCD (like on the Nokia 920), but this is consuming much more power and doesn't look that good, as the black is not real black (because of the backlight). Anyway I'm hoping for an LED screen on the next Jolla phone.

I'm using a Lumia 920 since 2,5 years and the alwyas on Glance screen is not using much power. If left on for a night the battery is consumed maybe by 1-2%. So during day time that is totally fine, maybe even saving power compared to turning on the display every time you want to check for notifications.

Jolla also doesn't do hardware anymore, so the question can be closed.
