Adding an option to automatically start powersaving mode after disconnecting charger.

Tracked by Jolla

Hi all, I have one suggestion, question maybe. The thing is that until "oulanka" I had powersaving patch, which automatically started powersaving mode after disconnecting charger. Now, when powersave is built-in, this feature stopped working. I know that propable problem is some "duplicity" in setting - native powersafe setting and the patch. So, I am thinking about removing patch, but I want to be able to automatically set powersafe mode from full battery, not only few % which is available in settings. Any help appreciated.

This function exists by default, if you active the first checkbox, the mobile phone will get in powersaving mode if not connected to a power cable. Its i think what you mean right?

okay, but I understood it that works this way : phone is charged, so I disconnect charger and the tick this, right? And after it it will keep powersave mode until next charging.

Thing I had and I want is that if I disconnect charger, it will activate powersave automatically without switching powersave option manually. You set this only once, and everytime you disconnect charger, it will switch to powersave.

So, which of these 2 options is that built-in option in Oulanka?

What you are looking for is: Setting the power save mode threshold to such value that battery level never exceeds it -> PSM gets activated whenever charger is not connected.

While the settings UI does not support selecting such option, you can do it from command line:

mcetool --set-power-saving-mode=enabled --set-psm-threshold=100

The mcetool utility is not installed by default. To install it you need to have developer mode activated and then execute:

devel-su
pkcon refresh
pkcon install mce-tools
