[Sailfish X] Instagram Android app leaves Location service permanently ON, battery drain [answered]

Stop/Start of "Android support" service helps, but this is clearly unsustainable.

I wonder if Instagram's background services are looking to somehow keep Location services activated. HERE Maps and most others don't seem to suffer from this issue.

Is there some Instagram app-specific workaround, I wonder?

Which version of Instagram are you using / where did you download it from? I ask as the one I had (from "store") stopped working about two weeks ago. It would open only if I had location services on (but not be usable). If location services were off it wouldn't even open.

I've turned off Location service, because of this. I have Xperia X with 3.0.2.8. @rfa I use latest version of Instagram, installed with Yalp Store and it seems to work fine without Location service.

I'm currently using XA2 Ultra with 3.0.3.9 (Hossa) using Instagram app from "store", and came up with this issue only once. As an active user on iOS and Android I can confirm it is an Instagram bug, not a Sailfish OS issue. I've found the only workaround this issue is closing the app and re-opening it when the location services get stuck. Have had this issue on 4 different devices with 3 different OS's. Cheers.
